Marriage

Being a single parent is like a new trend in society today, specially in the western culture. But not only that, getting married more than once is not frowned upon. Most cultures in Europe have erased the concept of marriage, instead there is the concept of living together, starting a family and behaving like any married couple, just the only difference is that your not legally bonded in holy matromany.People claim they know and understand what marriage is all about, but today’s society have forced us to change the meaning of marriage. Marriage is a symbol of love and unity between two individuals but society today doesn’t believe in that anymore. If they believed in that, gay marriages wouldn’t have been legalized in America, and not only this but majority of the population in America wouldn’t be single parents. The difference in the view of different people is due to the different religions. Some religions allow people to get married more than once, and others don’t allow that. In Islam, a man is allowed to get married four times whereas in Christianity and Judaism, you being an individual should only get married once. However the irony in all of this that, Christians and Jews are the ones that get married more than once compared to Muslims.Third world countries are most famous for underage marriages. In some rural areas in India and Pakistan, parents get their kids married off before they are even born. How they do this is, two families decide that the daughters of one family is going to get married to the sons of the other family or the other way around, while the baby is still in the mothers womb, parents have engaged the two. This usually leads to unhappy marriages because before even seeing each other they are forced to live with each other for the rest of their lives, which is not the meaning of marriage in the first place. Other cases are selling girls to wealthy landlords, but instead of using the word “sell” they simply get girls married off as young as the age of 12 or 13 to older/experienced men, who promise to support the family of the bride.Marriage shouldn’t be forced on people, due to circumstances, which don’t have anything to do with it. Marriage is an act of happiness, unity and it is a bond between two people. As they say, “Marriages are made in heavens” what I understand from this is that there is someone out there for everyone and when the right person comes along you know they are the ones!!

Brilliant essay, but the grammar was wrong in many places.

1. Even though I had a hard time distinguising paragraphs (there was no spacing between them), the content flowed well.
2. Brilliant introduction, conclusion and closing remarks.
3. Try not to use "like", "How they do this is, two families decide that.." etc. These are colloquial phrases are not part of written English.

I'd like to see a corrected version of this essay so that I can post it on the class blog.

the content in your essay is awesome. I think you have related all aspects of marriage.

I just think there are many comments made in the essay which would not be appricatied by the O levels examiners such as 'Chirstians and Jews are the ones getting married four times, instead of Muslims.'

There are a few grammartical errors (and your suppose to be the BEST at grammar)

Otherwise, very good essay. :)
